Digital on Stage: workshop Our (Digital) Body
This one-day workshop explores the evolving relationship between physical and digital body.
Lucas Dewulf and Jafar Hejazi invite diverse group of artists and performers who work at the intersection of technology, performance, and the body. Together they will explore embodiment in digital performance through an explorative, playful, and participatory format.
This workshop will be in English and is organized as part of the Creative Europe project Digital on Stage.
What can you expect?
Lucas and Jafar invite four artists who will each share a short case study: a tool, a story, a method or a small experiment.
- Resonite peeps: Medra & Joris
- AAY LIPAROTO
- Kristof Timmerman
- Giusy caruso
The workshop-instructors include a wide range from highly technical profiles to those deeply engaged with bodily or sensory practices. They will reflect on and experiment with topics such as:
- The friction and flow between physical and digital embodiment
- Performer and audience bodies in hybrid spaces
- The role of avatars, identity and sensory perception
- Touch, presence, liveness and agency
- Immersion, interaction and the notion of the cyborg
These sessions are interactive and open-ended, with space for dialogue, hands-on prototyping, and exploration. Each session is going to be around 50 minutes with breaks in between.
Objectives of the workshop
- To raise questions and dialogue between artistic and technological practices of embodiment.
- To share tools and methodologies used in digital performance.
- To create a space for experiment, reflection, and play.
The workshop contributes to an ongoing investigation of Lucas and Jafar into how we perform and feel bodies in digital and hybrid environments.
